Wave Rust

Yel,
good to hear you're not there. If you come back with a tan and haven't been to the beach ,,,, think paneek.

wave rust

astro

A quick nuke might give yelnicks brain a jolt and bring him back to the real world.

yelnick

Wave, winds increasing but blowing the radiative stuff to sea - good news for the people inland (and my return flight) but bad news for the nuke workers, who seem to be acting as heroically as the NY firefighters on 9/11. Wind will make the fires unstoppable. Will the containment vessels hold?  They are designed to, but then again the triple-redundant backups were designed to work, too.

George

C'mon Yelnick, the public is screaming for Elliott Fractals, Kondratieff winters and Neely Prechter debate!

No one wants to hear about you backpacking across some tidal basin in India.

Maybe you could let Hank guest blog for awhile.

yelnick

George, you need to get out more. But if Hank wishes to guestpost, have at it.

Mamma Boom Boom

Are there any hero's that have been looking for a long scalp. You're looking at it, 12 noon.

Wave Rust

Ned
Is your monitor upside down?

Check and make sure.

Wave Rust

Yel,

IAEA has discovered "partial meltdowns in plants #2, 3, and 4."

Media covering the "Fukushima 50" heroes fighting the fires and meltdown.

The computer measuring the radioactivity inside the plants is reportedly not working.

So how does the head of the IAEA, who has just now arrived in Japan, know there is a partial meltdown, as opposed to a 3/4 meltdown, or a full meltdown of the cores??

Hey, how about a slow boat from China, as a way home? Or, just go to Sydney, walk to Perth :), stop at Rio ,,,,

Wave Rust

Virgil

Dollar yen cross is about to break thru to uncharted waters. It dropped out of a 4 month long triangle this week and a decade long triangle a few years ago. Now it's real close to line-in-the-sand all time lows.

Fan

Mamma..........you're amazing!

Virgil

Hey, how about a slow boat from China, as a way home? Or, just go to Sydney, walk to Perth :), stop at Rio ,,,,

Australia advising their citizens to leave. France flying thiers out. Germany ordering theirs to leave.

JT

Wave,

The comment by the IAEA Energy Chief Yukiya Amano was in regards to radiation levels IN TOKYO. Moreover, he also believes that the reactors remain largely in tact, because the pressure inside remains the same as atmospheric pressure.

It was the US Energy Secretary and Noble Laureate, Stephen Chu who testified in front of Congress today commenting that he felt that there was a "partial meltdown".

I'm sorry my friend, but READING COMPREHENSION is not one of your strong suits!

Mamma Boom Boom

wave..fan..not real good on my mid-day call. Right?

I have the new forum almost ready, trying to work bugs out. Will get info to you tomorrow.

Wave Rust

Ned,
that was a classic "catch the falling knife" thing :)

I first thought you might have been doing Yoga while looking at your screen through your legs! :))

then I thought ,,,, NAH! not Ned.

wave rust

Wave Rust

Ned,
What forum platform are you using?

wave rust

Wave Rust

JT

lets be clear

you are not my friend. your criticism falls on deaf ears to all who see your feckless comments here.

in fact, you are wrong again, chump.

wave rust

Mamma Boom Boom

wave, ...Tetra WebBBS version 6.13 .

It's just an upgrade to old dinosaur I had, which wouldn't even operate any longer. Don't have all the configuration completed yet, trying to figure it out.

Wave Rust

Ned, didn't you ask about $/Yen?

check it. The BOJ just took a howitzer to the $.

Crashing the $$

wave rust

Mamma Boom Boom

wave, I'd read that in the afternoon, but couldn't find time to check it out. I do think it's temporary, though. Japan is out of options. They'll be in a wheel chair by the end of the month.

Looks like the bottom fell out on the Yen. Looking for the Euro to rally into the right shoulder of an H & S on the hourly chart

Fan

Skip Danger, I agree with Wave that that was definitely a 'catch the falling knife' scenario. Your 3 days to 3 weeks prediction seems to be unfolding. You continue to amaze me with your level of accuracy. I'm looking forward to your new blog tomorrow :)

Alternative is the Yen just threw under a falling wedge with the BOJ intervention to the rescue. Been awhile since the Asian session had this much commotion

Hey, no comments about how bullish the set up was? It's almost as if you have no ability to accurately call the market, but we all know that a trader as great as you could never be wrong, right?

Wave Rust

virgil,
almost a complete retracement of the $$ drop from BOJ announced plan to buy their own debt. Pretty unusual for BOJ, as I understand it.

SP futures have also recovered and are back above the RTH close.

I can see Duncan scrambling through the ipad trying to find all of his RSS links to financial blogs. :))

Duncan,
the water levels are dropping in plant #5 now ,,,, not good.
helo drops of water not working, remote electric line for water pumps also not working.

accusations being tosed about that govt is getting all of its info from the power company, and the company is not telling all.

new water effort to bring water pumping trucks to the site.

-----
Duncan I checked and there is a bus from Sydney to Perth ,,,, so don't start the walk about just yet. :)

wave rust

yelnick

Wave, maybe I fly to Alice Springs to see if I can hitch a ride on Prisclla, Queen of the Desert, back to Sydney

Wave Rust

yel,

essplainin that ride to your wife and kids will take a silver tongue, mate.

MT

Last year around this time we saw the Greek tragedy and the eruption of an Iceland volcano. This time an earthquake, tsunami and a possible core meltdown at Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant. If this not happend, the correction could be a 4th wave if you count the august 2010 as W1. But that's not of any importance right now. I hope that they find a solution for the situation at Fukushima. I can't understeand why the authorities don't accept help from other nuclear scientist around the globe. It's harakiri and kamikaze right now. It's amazing that the Japanese stay calm and don't get angry against the authorities for all the human errors at the plant.

Despite being a couple hours early, yesterday, I do believe it's a good place for a tradeable rally.

Wave, this is a good forum because it's open thread, very uncomplicated.

Mamma Boom Boom

Ok, the new forum is 'open for business':

http://www.bushongbusiness.com/skip_danger/

I don't have all the adjustments made yet, but it's functional. My webmaster is in Europe and out of town today, so adjustments will have to be made over the next few days.

Everyone is invited to move on over.

it was difficult to get by mamma boom boom's cryptic comments here at yelnick. A new blog?!?

thats gross, dude

wave rust

Wave Rust

Ned,
the platforms are a small issue

the real problem is moderating a forum with all the wacko's and spammers.

tons more spammers than whacko's

ask Yel about trying to moderate

ask other market forums about the spammers

but the biggest headache is the hackers and DoS attacks.

I'll bet that Yel stayed with the Typepad format (not worth hacking) because of familiarity and ease of moderating.

wave rust

DoS = denial of service ,,,, very nasty.
Have your webmaster set a chron job to backup offline very frequently ,,,, hourly?

you are entering into a venture you may regret to some degree.

good luck.

upstart

If you want to see a textbook Elliott wave, look at AIOAX from the 2008 low, or some other junk bond funds as well. The 4th wave is a neat expanded flat from 1/2010 to 6/2010, and the 5th wave completes at the 11/2010 high. A basic zigzag may be unfolding from the top, which means the bounce from Dec. - March was b, and a drop to new lows in c is imminent, which would sync with the rest of the equities correction.

the general

Momma is Skip Danger?
What a letdown!

Mamma Boom Boom

Wave, I know what you're talking about. I operated that forum for a couple of years (an old version). I shut it down in 2008, because of 2 reasons: 1)quality of posters had deteriorated severely, mainly do to the crashing market. 2)spammers were killing me.

Prior to that, I was a regular poster on and EW site out of Russia, for years. That EW specialist finally went bust and went to work for a money management company. He shut his site down. I added the forum to my website and brought those people to me. It worked for a while until the market crash chased them off. (they just wouldn't listen to me, I told them things were doing to get much worse than anyone thought)

This new version makes it difficult for 'spam bots' if not impossible. Simply too many steps to take to sign up. They claim they have no problem with spam, these days.

As for the whackos, it's very easy to delete them and their messages.

You'll notice in old messages: after it was down for months, I decided to use it for a place to archive important data. Finally it became so obsolete that I couldn't even do that any longer.

This new version should pretty much run itself. Other than the occasional joke, it will all be about markets and the economy. I promise.

Skip Danger

Fan

Skip Danger, I signed up for your blog. It wouldn't let me create a new post or do a "reply". Maybe it takes time to accept postings from a newbie??

Mamma Boom Boom

fan, did you follow these directions:
Here is how you sign up:
-Click on 'Post New'
-Put in your poster name
-Put in you email address
-Put in a password
-Click on yes, save password
-Click on post
-It will take you to create a profile, click on it
-Then hit save profile at bottom

Basically, you just start making a post, it will stop you and say you must sign up. Just follow those instructions. It's alittle complicated but that's what keeps the spammers at bay.

Now you're ready to post

Fan

Skip Danger,

I figured it out. I was trying to change something on my profile, and missed something. Thanks for the new blog. It's VERY appealing to me :)

Mamma boom boom,
I dont think u got the import of my comments here. I have a feeling that u think that ur comments make for an insightful and useful reading! I really think to the contrary.
Hold my hands?!? Ned get a grip on reality

Shooter McGavin

I am going to miss this blog, it has definitely been one of the better ones around, both for Yelnick's entries as well as the comments section.

I don't really care to criticize Mamma or others here, but the blog format that you've got is so early 1990s, I just cannot see that blog retaining the posters that have made this comment section so good. May I suggest you set something up here at typepad and try to maintain some consistency, or maybe Yelnick might be willing to do keep this place open with guest blogs and the occasional short entry himself?

joe

I totally agree with shooter.

Even Steven

As a regular reader, I have to concur with Shooter both on the format issue and the potential for keeping this venue open. I do not know anywhere else to find the kind of insights that are aggregated both in Yelnick's posts and the responses that he provokes. The healthy skepticism, the experience and the analytical insights that the group of individuals who post on this site is truly unique. Yelnick's entrepreneurial charisma and approach to technical and economic analysis has created a community that adds value to the blogoshere in ways that will be hard to replicate if this blog completely closes down.

Entrepreneurs need to move on and be entrepreneurial. Best wishes, Duncan, in your VC endeavors. However, rather than abandoning the blog by an abrupt resignation, why not poll the community for alternatives and see if you can use the creative power that assembles here to take this thing to the next level rather than killing it off.

Mamma, your Bulletin Board format will not cut it with this crowd. This community is a continuous stream of consciousness rather than sliced and diced topics.

I know there are a lot of folks like me who have been lurking and reading in the background but not contributing to the community dynamic except perhaps by recommending this destination to friends. This seems to be one of those crisis moments that many companies and communities reach when change is inevitable. I know that if this destination stays on my bookmark list, I'll have to be more active.

What do you say we look for other alternatives together? The alternative we have been presented does not seem to be what we are looking for as a community. It's time for those of us who value this community to take action and take it to the next stage together. Maybe we can pull it off.

Thoughts, anyone?

Mamma Boom Boom

Shooter McGavin, joe, Even Steven

Too bad you 3 feel that way, I have gone to an expense to create a place for folks to go. It would have been easier, cheaper, and maybe more sensible, just to walk away and tend to my own business.

I've spent 30+ years working with business men and women. (that's my day job) and I can tell you for certain, there is one thing they all have in common: they want things simple and straight forward. People that have 'their' money in the game, don't want to fool around. No bells no whistles! They just want to get to the point without mistakes.

Those that are looking for aesthetics (pretty little this and pretty little that) are only interested in 'Entertainment Value'. They have no skin in the game, they're only looking for a grin.

Those folks that have made the trek to my site, have thanked me for it, and have shown an appreciation. I'm glad.

I never intended to replace yelnick's dialogue, everyone has their own style. But, he wanted out and I have provided a place for serious folks to go.
