Amboseli Park, Kenya

February 24, 2007

We visited a nearby Masai village. Carol made friends with a bunch of kids who had watched us with curiosity from between the huts. Most were girls as the boys were out tending the goats and cows. Cows are money to Masai: it takes 15 to buy a wife, and another 15 to support her. Each wife gets a hut in the village, and each propertied man gets a separate entrance to the krall that safeguards the huts. The huts are made from cow dung. This village had nine entrances and around 30 huts, all in a circle. A lot of cows!
